So, last week I met my high school friend Casey after 10 years. She was back in town to attend the wedding of her cousin, who also happened to be my neighbor. Casey moved to Atlanta after completing college 6 years ago and been living there since.
Having passed all the stories about her life for the past 10 years, I asked her – ‘so, how it’s like to live in Atlanta’. I have to admit that I’m totally not familiar with the city life. Of course I have occasionally visited some large cities like New York, Jacksonville for short visits, but they were not long enough to get a good grasp of the busy city life. So I was eager to learn Casey’s view on her life in Atlanta.
To quote Casey’s exact words – Atlanta is everybody’s city. That one statement told me that she is quite happy and content about her Atlanta life. Of course, what’s not to love about Atlanta?
Reasonable and affordable housing prices, a stable economy, good public school system, enough jobs and innovations all around, Atlanta promises endless opportunities and an elegant life style for those who are living in or moving to the city.
Casey is working in healthcare. She’s married and have two kids. Her husband is the proud owner of a small-scale e-commerce business based in Atlanta, and it’s doing well, according to her. They have their own two-story home with a large front yard, in an elite suburban area in Buckhead community, bought 2 years back. Her husband drives a Tesla. By all means, Casey’s living an elite life in Atlanta. Her eldest will be starting school next year.
Casey and her husband are going to enroll him in Brandon Elementary School, a reputed public school in Georgia, though they can well afford a good private school. ‘Why should I spend unnecessarily on a private school, when there are several public schools which I know are very good and competitive?’ She asks. Of course I agree with her on that.
Going back to Casey’s quote, why did she say Atlanta is everybody’s city?
There are several neighborhoods in Atlanta, which offers unique life styles.
At the northern tip of Atlanta lie Brookhaven and Buckhead, suitable for those who looking for affordable, luxury living.
The area is also popular for its exciting nigh life, hence the younger crowd of Atlanta frequent this neighborhood. Virginia Highlands and Morningside are more suitable for modern families with a lot of charming bungalows and upscale restaurants and shops.
Ormewood is a middle-class neighborhood while Ansley is the home of the oldest ATLien families. Hence, Atlanta is a city of different communities and lifestyles, a fact which brings more vibes to the city.
Atlanta is a city with great historical significance as well. Old Fourth Ward neighborhood hosts the home of young Martin Luther King, Jr., among many other historical landmarks such as the Historic Oakland Cemetery.
If you have recently moved to USA and you are with no credit check, Atlanta could be your sanctuary, as it is one of the US cities which has got best apartments for rent without a credit check.
If I ever get out of my little hometown, I could imagine myself setting down in Atlanta, like Casey did. With a nice and cozy apartment in a stylish neighborhood, with ample restaurants, clubs and shops to enjoy out with friends, I could certainly get used to the stylish life style that Atlanta would offer.
